Umber Halai
Associate Attorney
Born in Pakistan, growing up in Toronto, Canada, Umber has always had a passion for law and social justice. Her diverse background has allowed her to educate herself in various different countries from earning her Honors BA in Law and Society with a minor in Psychology in Toronto, attending law school in London, England, passing the Barrister and Solicitor exams in Ontario Canada, and then moving to the Bay Area, and having to do it all over again with the California Bar.
Her family affectionately identifies her as a student-for-life with a continuous passion for learning and educating herself on various aspects of law, most recently, Family Law. Prior to moving to the Bay Area, she worked in criminal defense and volunteered at the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office while studying for the California Bar. She has taken the skills she learned at her previous positions and dedicated them to Family Law, zealously advocating for her clients and ensuring that they get the best possible outcome during arguably some of the most difficult times of their lives.
Her goal is to make clients feel that their problems are her problems and to help shoulder the weight of their burdens, so they always feel heard, seen and understood. She believes that empathy, communication and professionalism are the best means of ensuring clients walk away happy – knowing that their best interests are what our firm always strives for.
In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her husband and two toddlers but also has a passion for travel and adventure – her husband proposed while they were skydiving because it was on her bucket list, she is a licensed scuba diver, and her next adventure goal is shark diving in the Red Sea.
